About My Work
I work in cone 6 porcelain and white stoneware, and fire in an electric
kiln. The pieces themselves are diverse, to say the least. My reputation
initially established itself around pastel glazes flowing across platters and
bowls in abstract landscapes and color fields. Several of these pieces were
featured for the first time in the October 1984 issue of House Beautiful Magazine and, subsequently, my work has been featured in that magazine five more times since. Most pieces are "thrown soft slab", but I work at the wheel as well.
Basically I'm self taught, but have taken many workshops with some of the best in the field. These have had enormous influence on my work and philosophy.
In recent years I find there are certain pieces I try to keep in the studio. More recently, clay has become my medium for expressing my ideas, philosophy, and where I am at this point of time in my life. Now this is exciting! Developing an idea, or theme, into a body of work and then moving on growing. |

"There is great satisfaction in the physical process of working with clay.
Inspiration is everywhere. I think in terms of clay and interpret what I see and what I feel in this medium.
After over 30 years there is a great interrelationship between myself and my work." |
